Dole whip, corn dogs and pretzels? Everyone knows USA Disney has the most delicious snacks. But, what about Disneyland Paris? Paris is slowly trying to catch up with the American Disney snacking trend. So, when visiting Paris on the SLPxDLP2.0 trip, I did my very best to sample as many Disney snacks as possible (including some vegan ones!)
The first place we sampled was the Disneyland Paris Hotel. I had never been in the hotel before, never-mind knew you could go and have a cup of tea there! Walking into the hotel we were instantly touched with wafts of gingerbread and twinkling lights.
For the festive period, they created two very Disney and very festive beverages. A Minnie-Mouse Berry Infused Hot Chocolate and a Mickey-Mouse Orange Infused Hot Chocolate. As somebody who cannot have (and doesn't particularly like) orange flavoured things, I opted for the Minnie Mouse and it was DELISH. The berry infusion was very subtle and didn't take away from the warm chocolatey-ness whereas everyone who ordered the Mickey-Mouse fed back that it was too rich and overpowering, with many people not even finishing it.
If any of you reading this know me personally as well as read my blog, you will know I get hella hangry. Taking advantage of extra magic hours doesn't always leave time for breakfast so after meeting Mickey Mouse, riding Dumbo and shooting into Hyperspace, it was about time I settled the tummy gremlins; the perfect opportunity for another festive Disney snack.
Unfortunately, I can't remember of these star shaped donuts but that is literally all they were! Donuts topped with red icing and white edible stars. It came in a deal where you could get two donuts and a cup of tea for 5euros99. Of all the donuts I have ever eaten (and I am a donut lover), it was one of the best iced donuts I have had. However, for a Disney snack, I would rate it a bit disappointing.
Also in the deal, and seemingly more popular than the donuts, were some Gingerbread Cake Christmas Trees. More points to Disney for these fellas as they felt a lot more Christmassy and were the perfect texture for a gingerbread flavoured cake. If you're looking for an affordable breakfast in Disney and aren't too bothered about having a big sit down meal, I would highly recommend little snack deals like these. I had this on day two for my breakfast with a cup of tea and it was the perfect amount to last me until lunch time.
Look at the absolute joy on this gal's face as she devours this treat. Disney calories don't count.
Going round Disneyland with a vegan (hi Suzy) really enlightened me to how behind Paris is with their vegan range. We scavenged a vegan meal from the Rainforest Cafe after a bit of a debate with the manager, and luckily Suzy already knew the pasta at Bella Notte was vegan. However, in the entire resort, no food was labelled as vegan except for one stand in the Walt Disney Studios park. So, when we found it, we pretty much threw our money at it. To get more of these things we need to show them that's where the money is!
We all had a serving of some chickpea 'soup' which was a solid 10/10 and then opted for some sweet treats. I chose banana bread whereas Suzy and Matthew chose the chocolate cake. I am a big banana bread fan so was happy with my choice but I also tasted a bit of their cake and can confirm that is also a 10/10 choice. Even if you aren't vegan it tastes just the same as options containing dairy!
Now, I couldn't leave DISNEY of all places, without consuming something in the shape of a Mickey head (the hot chocolate did not count!) So, after Molly from Molly Biggxo on YouTube had one of these on the first day, I had to find it and have a photoshoot with it on the second day! The ears were marshmallow and the big circle was a giant brownie-like cake pop. Going on taste alone, I'm not sure this was worth what I paid for it and I probably would never choose to eat it out of all the other treats I tried. However, for photograph opportunities, I would give this a solid 10/10.
What are YOUR favourite Disney snacks? I want all the recommendations from all the Disneys, please! Why be hangry when you can just eat all the food.
I can't wait until they get dole whips in DLP! :P
