Here's another post for my blog DUN DUN
Hehe, get it? Here's another song for the radio...
Poor effort, I know. I'll try harder next time.
Not my photo.
2019 saw one of the greatest music announcements of all time (at least in my opinion). McFly came back. Again. In September 2019, McFly announced they would be back for a One Night Only show at the O2 arena in London on 20th November 2019. I had already seen McFly once before at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre. If you've been following me for a while you may even remember a vlog of it which used to be up on my YouTube channel! Anyway, that concert was by far the best performance I had ever seen of any music artist.. and this was even coming from a JLS fan girl who had seen JLS 9 times and cried all 9 of those times. So, another McFly concert? UH YES PLEASE.
I booked my ticket and in true Alex fashion I totally forgot when the date was. Literally, I have no idea how I manage this but due to my fluctuating work schedule, dates lose all meaning to me. It was only the day before the concert when the O2 emailed me about downloading my ticket that I had the
OH CRUMBS THE PROMS TOMORROW?!??!!
OH CRUMBS THE PROMS TOMORROW?!??!!
moment. Quickly I booked my ticket and blasted McFly on repeat.
Wednesday came and I applied makeup for perhaps the first time this century. I booked a taxi, hopped on a train, and made my way to the O2. I managed to capture a picture of the tube service information board with all the McFly song names in...
When I arrived at the venue, the doors weren't open yet so I figured I would pass time by getting in the merch queue..... I figured it would take approximately twenty minutes. Boy was I wrong. One hour later I got my t-shirt. One. Whole. Hour. In the cold. I'm impressed my fingers made it. But it was so worth it! They had sold out of a lot of merch and sizes by the time I got there so I always recommend queueing for your merch before a show instead of after to make sure you get the bits you want.
In my seat, I spent an embarrassingly long amount of time trying to get a picture of my new pin with the O2 in the background and then settled in to listen to the support act. McFly had chosen Chapter 13 who were completely new to me but I have since heard they were on Britain's Got Talent. I loved them. Not only was it my kind of music but they were all dressed with their own styles and it was all very sweet. They were such sweethearts and did a proper bow at the end and everything. Big love. You've got yourselves a new fan, guys!
After Chapter 13, it wasn't long until the main event and the tears started. Jokes, I didn't cry until way later. There really isn't much to say about the concert itself as I believe you can only really experience a concert by being there and feeling it first hand but I will give you a little list of my favourite moments.
1. Dougie burping during All About You. (I even managed to capture this on camera whilst filming All About You so click here)
2. THE PINK UKELE RISING TO THE STAGE
3. The lights going out and everyone turning on their phone lights for Don't Stop Me Now
4. The saxophone players in Star Girl being dressed as aliens
5. Realising how much of a fine specimen Danny is.
6. Singing so much and so loudly I had a choking fit
It was definitely one of my favourite nights of my life. I'd love to hear about your favourite concerts or if you have ever been to see McFly?! Comment below and we can chat!
