Winter Q&A | #ThreeHallows

Since beginning the Three Hallows book club, unless you have been a regular visitor of our blogs, I realised you may not know all that much about us. So, here is the first of (hopefully) many Q&As! As Christmas is coming up, we decided to take a wintery theme... if you have any ideas for future themes or have any questions you would like to ask us, please leave a comment!

It's a long one so make sure you have your hot chocolates ready! Here it goes....

Do you have an advent calendar this year?

AP: No and I am actually quite upset about that. Hopefully next year…

AC: Yes! I was struggling to find one I wanted for ages but then my mum bought me a Maltesers one and all my troubles were over...

R: I actually have two! Even though we are both gron up now, my mum still makes us a homemade advent calendar every year and it's one of my favourite things about the build up to Christmas! I also have a jewellery advent calendar from Avon.

Favourite Christmas movie?

AP:  The Snowman. It’s a classic and we watch it every year.

AC: Love Actually... every other answer is wrong

R: It has to be Christmas with the Kranks, that movie is hilarious!

Yorkshire puddings on Christmas day?

AP: YES! Definitely yes.

AC: Personally I would say yes but my mum says no *sad face*

R: Y.E.S.

Favourite Christmas book?

AP: I really like Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Miracle. I also love Almost Midnight by Rainbow Rowell. Both are really cute and perfect for the Christmas season.

AC: I am also a huge fan of Let It Snow by John Green... I don't think I have actually read many other Christmas books!

R: Hmmm good question. I am relatively new to adult Christmas reading as for the last few years Christmas consisted of books for my spring classes! My favourite this year though has been Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan, it's a real heart-warmer. I may have cried a bit.

Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?

AP: I always set New Year’s Resolutions but never do them for my lifestyle, but I know that I need to take more time for my mental and physical health in the New Year. The last couple of years I have set myself the goal of watching 100 films, so I want to continue that. I would also love to get back in the routine of reading every day even if I just read one page as I feel like I have fell a little bit out of love with reading and I want to get it back because I love it so much! I also want to write as much as possible and finish my novel. (I said it now. I need to be kept accountable!)

AC: I'm going to try and not hold myself to toooo high standards next year and I feel like a part of that is not setting myself New Year Resolutions but I can't really resist. I would like to read more, keep note of the movies I watch and save up money to finally get my own place...

R: I do! I have a whole page of them in my Bullet Journal (look out for my 2019 plan with me soon!) My main ones are 'read four books a month', 'write more of my novel' and 'laugh more' because laughing regularly is a good way to begin your year more positively.

Favourite Christmas song?

AP: I have always liked Fairytale Of New York and still do but I can’t help but feel that it is just a little problematic, but I think that everything is when you really look at it.

AC: I think Last Christmas would be my favourite if I had to pick one.. Maybe because of JLS singing it on the X Factor...

R: Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade! I can't help but sing that one, literally wherever I am.

Favourite reindeer?

AP: Rudolph? I haven’t really thought about it before.

AC: Comet has always been my favourite.. When I was younger I won a soft toy reindeer and named him Comet.. One day when I woke up he was on the stairs instead of in my bed because he had been helping Santa put out the presents!

R:  Although not a traditional reindeer, Blizzard is my favourite! That movie is ADORABLE, I loved watching it growing-up.

Dream mistletoe kiss? (fictional characters included)

AP: This is so hard because I just don’t know. Maybe Peeta from the Hunger Games or Jem from the Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare.

AC: Draco Malfoy of course.... I don't think anybody would have even suggested otherwise. Though, I wouldn't say no to Zac Efron.

R: Ooh fantastic question. It has to be either Eddie Redmayne, Draco Malfoy (from the later films!) or Valek from Poison Study! I can't pick between them!

Are you doing the Goodreads reading challenge next year?

AP: YES! I have done it every year since 2014 but this will be the fourth year that I set my target to just 1 book as to lessen the amount of pressure that put on myself to read.

AC: Yes. I do it every year and always set myself a completely ridiculous goal of 50 books. I am a very slow reader and find it hard to relax enough to be able to sit down and read, so 50 books is just an insane target for me. In 2019, I am going to set my challenge to 25 books which is still completely ridiculous for me but if it was any lower then I wouldn't see it as a challenge..

R: Definitely! I have been involved in this for the last three or four years (maybe longer) but this year I am increasing my target from 40 to 50 as I've managed 56 books so far! "Smashed it!"
