Lament | A rant about a book

The first book on my year 13 reading list was Lament by Maggie Stiefvater.

I finished it this morning so, I've decided to share my thoughts about it with you because I think my friend Crystal didn't appreciate my opinion :p
Before I be all negative I'd just like to say that the story line is pretty good.

Negative point number 1:
It spends the first half of the book being all mysterious and making you want to read it so you'll know why Luke is doing what he's doing and why Granna is so suspicious and why Delia is such a cow but as soon as you get half way through it pretty much just tells you everything there is to know and then there is no suspense what so ever. Like, why would you do that?! At least save something shocking for the very end!

Negative point number 2:
Dee, you need to grow a spine. You're a lame protagonist.

Negative point number 3 (more about the book cover than the story):
I'd rather there was a quote what someone said about this actual book on the back of it rather than a quote about some other book.. Gawdddddddd

Negative point number 4:
Dividing one book into "Book one" through to "Book six" only works if something worthwhile happens in each part. If not, it's just a waste of freaking paper.

Negative point number 5:
Okay so Sara is supposed to be the girl that everybody kinda hates but to be honest, she was the best character...

Positive point (yeah I actually thought of one):
The character of James is actually really cool. Dee should fall in love with him instead.

I'M SORRY FOR BEING SUCH A NEGATIVE NELLY! I JUST DIDN'T LIKE IT AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE LOVE IT SO MUCH!
I know you'll be like "hey but this was in your top 10 books" but yeah, that was when I'd only read a few chapters and it was actually good.
My respect for teenage literature has seriously plummeted.
The next book I'm reading is Ballad (the sequel to Lament). Wish me luck guys.
