One Year of Sustainable Sanitary Products

If you've been around here a while, you'll probably know that a year ago, I invested in my first lot of sustainable period products. Having been looking into the sustainable periods market for a few years, I decided that the option most suited to myself was probably reusable cloth pads.

To a lot of people, that may sound positively gross but all you need to do is rinse them once you have used it, and put it in with your normal laundry and then 9 times out of 10, they come out good as new.

I had made my first order from LadyDays because I know the lady who runs it. I ended up getting along with those pads so well that I have since placed multiple orders since then. Whilst using cloth pads I have noticed that not only have I probably almost saved as much money on throwaway period products as I have spent on sustainable options, but my body is much happier for it too as cloth pads are much more comfortable and just feel like I am wearing my normal underwear. I am yet to try out any other brands but if you are a user of cloth pads and have any other brands to recommend, please leave me a comment.

This year I am hoping to attempt to make my own cloth pads. After making an abundance of cloth face masks last year when the pandemic hit, I have a lot of cotton and fabrics that I need to find another use for (there are only so many cloth face masks a gal can make).

Have you made your own cloth pads? Let me know!
