10 Things I'm Doing In Isolation

Due to the current pandemic, many of us are finding ourselves in lockdown. As someone with an underlying medical condition for which I take medication that significantly compromises my immune system, I have been advised by the UK government to stay indoors for 12 weeks. This means I have been finding lots of ways to keep myself busy! As some of you may also be finding yourself in a similar position, I thought I would share with you guys what I've been up to!

1. Finishing Old Projects

I've been wanting to turn a t-shirt I bought whilst volunteering in South Africa into something I can wear more often for such a long time. Now I've been spending everyday in my home, I finally have had the time. I bought this vintage denim jacket from Best Days Vintage in Colchester around a month before we went into lockdown. They've been sitting in my room ever since but I'm now really happy with my finished product.

Supplies needed: Iron-on interfacing, Fabric Mod Podge, Embroidery Floss, Embroidery Needle, Paint Brush

2. Disney+

You've probably heard enough about this already! But, the day after Mr Johnson announced the UK going into lockdown, Disney+ was finally released in the UK. So far I have watched, The Little Mermaid, The Lady and the Tramp, Black Panther, Wizards of Waverly Place and a few shorts. Lava is the best short ever, highly recommend.

3. Tidying My Room

This is on my daily to do list anyway but now I have no excuse for it to get messy again!

4. Keeping On Top Of Household Cleaning

As someone at high-risk, it is especially important that we keep key areas such as the kitchen very clean. So, my kitchen has been scrubbed within an inch of its life every day this week. I'll be impressed if we have a kitchen left by the end of it!

5. Practicing Embroidery

For those of you who don't follow me on social media, I have been busy setting up my own business. It is called Strawberry & Dream and it is where I sell my arts & crafts projects. My main scope at the moment is wall hangings and embroidery. I've been spending the past few days doing some embroidery for my friends as gifts which has been a great way to practice my skills before I create my etsy store.

6. Doing The Errands We Put Off

All those things I needed to post for birthdays in April? Completed it m8.

7. Smashing Out My Makeup Course

I've not done any work on my makeup course for a while. This is mainly because fitting in a makeup course around a full time job is HARD. It is incredibly rewarding when I do complete assignments so I can't wait to get a lot of this done over the next few weeks. If you have any questions about my course, leave them in the comments. I would love to do a post talking about my makeup journey. You can also follow my makeup Instagram @schmirfle.mua

8. Learning A New Skill

As well as my makeup course which I do for fun, lots of places are now doing offers on courses because everyone is stuck at home! I have been wanting to get some sort of formal qualification in media marketing as I think this will be incredibly useful for me in future career paths or even just for personal use with my blog and new business. So, I have signed myself up for a Digital Marketing Diploma. If you guys are interested, I will do some more posts on this as I am completing it!

9. Learning A Language

My boyfriend lives in the Netherlands. This has its ups & downs as you can imagine. I get to experience another country and we go on a lot of adventures together. But, during a global pandemic, it's a bit sh*t to say the least! I've been dabbling in and out of learning Dutch throughout our relationship. But, now I've committed to doing a few Duolingo lessons every single day. As well as Duolingo I am looking for some online resources (that preferably I don't have to pay for). If you have any advice on learning Dutch, PLEASE hit me up!

10. Keeping In Touch

When I am at work full-time, I always find myself having the excuse that I "never have time" to be keeping in touch with everybody every single day. So, now that I have the time, and no excuses, I am making sure to keep in touch with my family more often and each of my friends. 💛

Although the government have advised me to stay in my home for twelve weeks, this may not be possible if my place of work are able to reopen. I will only receive statutory sick pay for staying at home which is not enough for me to pay my rent & bills so I will be forced to return to work, compromising my health in the process. If you are a reader of my blog and are able, I would appreciate any support on my Buy Me A Coffee. For the price of a Starbucks, you are able to support me in keeping my blog running and keeping myself safe. Thank-you.

I would like to announce a great thank-you to our NHS and all of our key workers that are keeping the UK running right now. We're all in this together.
